The short version
Going Train is a winding book for a hand-wound turret clock. It works entirely offline, needs no account, and does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. Everything you enter — clocks, strike readings, windings, rota entries, notes and photographs — is stored only in the app's own storage on your iPhone or iPad. We never see it.
What the app stores, and where
All of your records are kept locally on your device using standard iOS storage (a private app data file and, for preferences, iOS's UserDefaults). Nothing is uploaded to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. Deleting an individual clock from within the app removes only that clock's records.
Camera and photo library
Going Train asks for camera access only when you choose to photograph a clock movement, bell or repair to attach to your maintenance and fault log. It asks for photo library access only so you can pick an existing picture for the same purpose. In both cases, only the picture you actively choose is copied into the app's own storage; nothing else in your camera roll is read, and no image ever leaves your device.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders in Settings, Going Train schedules local notifications on your device for the next winding day and for upcoming clock changes. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on-device; no notification data is sent to any server, and no push service is used.
In-app browser
Reference links you save in the Clock Book (for example, a maker's history page or a heritage listing) open inside the app in a built-in web view rather than sending you to Safari. This browser uses a private, non-persistent session: it keeps no cookies or history between visits. The website you open sees a normal visit from your device, the same as if you had opened it in any browser; Going Train itself does not log which links you open.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
Going Train contains no analytics software development kit, no advertising network, and no tracking of any kind — of you or of your device — for us or for anyone else. Nothing about your use of the app is measured, profiled or shared.
Data types, in Apple's terms
For App Store transparency, here is how Going Train answers Apple's data-collection questionnaire:

Children's privacy
Going Train is a tool for adults who volunteer to maintain turret clocks and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect information at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of Going Train adds a feature that uses data differently — we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and reflect the change in the app's own in-app Privacy page.
